The ceremony was held at Loreto Kirribilli Chapel and the reception was at the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron in Kirribilli, Sydney.
“Classical with a vintage twist; we wanted everything to be formal, but a party as well!”
The Wedding dress
“My wedding dress was an ivory lace strapless corset and long silk-tiered skirt from Monique Lhuillier with an ivory lace bolero.”
“The beautiful maxi ‘Laura’ gowns in Misty Blue. We had a black tie theme, so I wanted a long dress. The girls all ranged in shape and size and I found this dress was something they all liked and felt comfortable as well looked gorgeous in!”
“Classical invitations with a lace running through the middle of them, with an ivory bow. Being an event manager, I see contemporary invitations all the time so I wanted something more classical.”
“The styles of the flowers I used were vintage and garden inspired, in the colour palette of white green and pale blue. Flowers we used were garden Roses, Lisianthus, Tulips, Orchids and Hydrangeas. Complementing these flowers was interesting foliage’s and seasonal herbs, I am quite allergic to strong scented flowers, so the herbs were a different touch, and the smell of the herbs on the tables was lovely!”
“We had a full service, with lighting of the family candles. The whole ceremony was quite casual with a lot of laughs. I think walking down the aisle and seeing all my family and friends and handsome groom waiting for me at the end the aisle was very special for me.”
“Our wedding dance was very un-rehearsed! We have always loved dancing together, so went with the flow! We were really lucky that Tom’s aunty filmed our first dance to Elvis Presley’s ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’. Our reception was a sit down dinner with many musical components, we had a Spanish/Flamenco guitar player for canapés on the balcony of the yacht squadron, during the meal service we had a string quartet, after the formalities of the night finished we had a eight-piece band, they were fantastic! All the wedding guests danced all night!”
“The decorations were flowers around the room in our theme of pale blue to match our bridesmaid dresses, white and greens. In some areas of the reception room, we had small crystal glass hanging with flowers in them. My mum and I made the table decorations, we bought the small San Pellegrino bottles and painted them with black chalk paint and put the table numbers on them, we also collected about 140 tomato sauce metal cans for flower vases as well as vintage crystal classes for the flowers in the centre of each table.”
“As we had desert with our menu option at our reception, so I did not want to have a cake, but my grandmother really liked the idea of the formality of having the bride and groom cutting the cake so I ordered a macaroon tower so guests could just walk past and grab one if they felt like it! We put fresh roses on the cake to glam it up a bit! We were still able to ‘cut the cake’ without having two deserts!”
