The details.
There is a quiet kind of elegance in a clean line, and the Charlotte Knotted Crepe Navy Column Gown by Dressology is built on it. Made for the Mother of the Bride or the Mother of the Groom who wants to look modern without looking severe, the Charlotte is a sleek floor-length column in matte stretch crepe, finished with an illusion mesh yoke and short cap sleeves embroidered with tonal navy sequin leaves and vines. The embroidery catches the light quietly rather than sparkling all over, and your skin shows softly through the mesh between the leaves.
The Charlotte is built around the things that actually matter on a long day. The mesh yoke and cap sleeves cover the collarbone and the upper arms softly, so there is nothing to hold up and nothing to tug at. At the natural waist sits a soft twisted knot, and the ruching fans out from it across the hip, softening the tummy and giving the column a gentle shape. A front slit at the leg lets you walk, take a step and dance without thinking about it. The back carries the same embroidered mesh yoke, with a concealed centre-back zip beneath it. The body is fully lined, and there is no padding. One thing worth knowing before you choose your size: the crepe has generous stretch through the waist and hip, but the embroidered mesh yoke and the bust have no stretch at all, so please choose your size by your bust measurement. Part of our own Dressology label, the Charlotte is floor length, and the hem skims the floor in a low heel.
Navy is the colour mothers reach for when they want elegance without announcing itself, and it earns that place. It flatters every complexion, it sits beautifully beside ivory, blush, champagne and gold palettes, and it holds its depth in photographs from the ceremony through to the last dance. Silver or gold jewellery both suit it, and nude or gold shoes finish it without competing. One note on screens: we measured the navy on our own crepe before we wrote this, and it is a deep, true navy — darker and richer than a dusty navy, and still clearly blue rather than black. Most screens show it a little brighter than it looks in the room. The Charlotte is made to order in sizes 8 AU to 30 AU and ships within 2 to 6 weeks, cut for real women at every point of that range.
This is a gown for the mother who has spent months making sure everyone else feels wonderful. Wear it, and let the day give a little of that back to you.

Size & fit
How do I get the best fit in my Dressology gown?
The most reliable way is to be measured by a professional tailor. If that isn't possible, measure yourself with a soft tape over your undergarments — snug, never tight — across the fullest part of your bust, your natural waistline and the fullest part of your hips.
How do I find my size?
Always use the Dressology size chart on this page rather than your usual shop size — designer sizing varies, and every gown is made to that chart. Prefer a second opinion? Send your measurements to our stylists and we'll match you to the right size.
What if I'm between two sizes?
Size up. It's far easier for a local tailor to take a gown in than to let it out, and most mothers have a small alteration — a hem or a little nip at the waist — for that perfect finish anyway.
Can I try the style before I commit?
Yes — our Try Before You Buy service sends a showroom gown to your door, so you can check the fit, colour and feel in your own light before ordering.
Ordering & production
When should I place my order?
As early as you comfortably can — we recommend at least 20 weeks before the wedding to allow for production, shipping and any alterations. Closer to the date? Message us with the style, colour and size and we'll check what's achievable.
What does made-to-order mean?
Your Dressology gown is brought to life specifically for your order once you purchase — never pulled from a warehouse rail. It's how we can offer the full size and colour range. Please note it's made to the designer's standard pattern, not custom-made to your exact measurements.
Can my order be rushed?
Sometimes — it depends on the designer's current workflow and your event date. Message the team before ordering with your date and preferred colour and we'll confirm what's possible.
Colour & coordinating
How do I make sure my colour works with the wedding palette?
Order a fabric swatch first — a screen never shows colour truly. A swatch lets you hold the real shade against the bridal party's palette in natural light. Our stylists are happy to help you coordinate so your look complements the day without clashing.
Can both mothers wear the same designer?
Absolutely — many do. Tell us both roles, mother of the bride and mother of the groom, and we'll help you choose two looks that sit beautifully together in the photos.
Returns & exchanges
Can I return my Dressology gown?
Because each gown is made especially for you, made-to-order pieces are final sale, so we can't offer a return or exchange for change of mind. Please double-check the size chart before ordering — and if something isn't quite right when it arrives, reach out anyway and we'll do whatever we can to help.
Care & maintenance
How should I care for my gown?
We recommend dry cleaning only, by a cleaner experienced with eveningwear, to protect the fabric and its finish.
